To measure the width of your dog's foot, place the foot on a piece of paper and press down on the top of the foot, mimicking how the foot spreads when the dog's walking.

Mark the left and the right side of the foot on the paper and measure the distance between the marks. Compare this to the boot sizes. The width of the foot should be smaller than the boot size.

For example, if the foot width is 1 1/2 inches, order an XSmall at 1 3/4 inches.

The size difference between the medium and large is huge. It was impossible to get my dog's paws into the medium because the opening was too small, and the large boots are giant in the foot (though correctly sized to get paws inside). My dog refused to walk in the large boots because there was so much space and bulk.

I tried these for a couple day KS quail hunt in the grasslands, lots of prickly pear. Failed miserably. If I could add a pic I would - shredded. 5 hunts. I put vet wrap underneath, boots, then duct tape to secure. Cactus spines easily pierced the boots on all fronts. Not much use in that country.

3 out of 5 stars Fit well, stayed on, 12/31/2015 3:48:40 AM

Bought these for my GSPs on a 6 day Montana sharptail hunt. Pros: the boots stayed on and protected the dog's pads. the boot material resisted abrasion, hardly showed any wear. The portion of the boot on the dog's lower leg is well padded. Cons: the interior of the foot portion of the boot is not padded and abrasive. The result is the upper surface of the paw became abraded and sore. Boots do the job but require a sock or something else to prevent the abrasion of the top of the paw.
